Searching Archived Email

The Bamboozle Email Archive lets you search across all archived email to find specific messages for compliance, legal, or operational purposes.

Accessing the archive

  1. Log in to https://cyberprotect.bamboozle.me.
  2. Click Email Archiving in the left sidebar.
  3. Click Archive.

Use the search bar at the top to search across all archived email. You can search by:

  • Keywords — words appearing in the subject or body of the email
  • Sender — the email address of the sender
  • Recipient — the email address of the recipient
  • Date range — filter to a specific time period

Enter your search terms and click Search.

For more precise searches, use the advanced search filters:

  1. Click Advanced search next to the search bar.
  2. Configure any combination of the following filters:

To / CC / BCCRecipient email address
SubjectWords in the email subject line
BodyWords in the email body
Has attachmentFilter to emails with or without attachments
Attachment nameName of a specific attachment
Date from / toDate range for the search
MailboxSearch within a specific user's mailbox
  1. Click Search to run the query.

Working with search results

Search results show each matching email with the sender, recipients, subject, date, and the mailbox it was found in.

Click on any result to open a preview of the email including the full body and any attachments.

Exporting search results

You can export search results for legal discovery, compliance audits, or internal investigations:

  1. Run your search and review the results.
  2. Select the emails you want to export using the checkboxes, or click Select all.
  3. Click Export.
  4. Choose the export format:
    • PST — compatible with Microsoft Outlook
    • EML — individual email files
    • PDF — human-readable format for review
  5. Click Export and wait for the export to be prepared.
  6. Download the export file when it is ready.

If email needs to be preserved for legal proceedings and must not be subject to automatic deletion, you can place it on legal hold:

  1. Run a search to find the relevant emails.
  2. Select the emails.
  3. Click Actions then Place on legal hold.
  4. Enter a name for the hold and an optional description.
  5. Click Confirm.

Emails on legal hold will not be deleted even when the standard retention period expires. To manage existing legal holds, go to Email Archiving then Legal Holds.

Mailbox-level search for end users

If you want to allow individual users to search their own archived email, this can be configured by an administrator:

  1. Go to Email Archiving then Settings.
  2. Enable User self-service search.
  3. Users can then log in to the Cyber Protect console with their own credentials and search their own mailbox archive.
